What Is Included With UATAC Gear

UATAC assault pants ship as a complete set: trousers, knee pads, belt and dry bag. The combat shirt comes with EVA elbow pads and a dry bag. None of these have to be bought separately.

Why this changes the real price of a purchase

When comparing brands, buyers look at the price on the trousers page. But most premium makers sell knee pads, belts and accessories separately, so a kit that is actually ready to go costs noticeably more than the listing suggests. The gap can amount to the price of another pair of trousers.

The second half of the problem is compatibility. Universal knee pads bought separately often do not stay in the pocket of a specific model: they slide down when running, and the wearer simply takes them out. Formally the protection exists; in practice it does not.

What is in the box

Item Included Why it matters
Assault pants Trousers, knee pads, belt, dry bag A kit ready for use with nothing left to source
Combat shirt Shirt, EVA elbow pads, dry bag Elbow protection and dry storage

Why the supplied knee pads work better than universal ones

The inserts are held by a three-point system: height adjustment through the front opening, VELCRO® fixation and a hook that blocks vertical movement. That keeps the pad on the kneecap while running, squatting and crawling.

The pads are made of EVA — a light, resilient polymer that absorbs impact. It handles shock, while abrasion is handled by the CORDURA® 500d reinforcement on the garment itself. So even with the inserts removed, the knee is still protected against wear.

What the dry bag is for

It is not a decorative extra. A dry set in your pack is the difference between changing clothes and drying them on you. It is also the practical way to carry a spare set in a vehicle or during movement in rain.

Common mistakes

  1. Comparing the price of trousers against a complete kit from another brand.
  2. Discarding or never using the dry bag.
  3. Replacing supplied pads with universal inserts and then wondering why they slide.
  4. Washing knee pads in the drum together with the trousers.
  5. Assuming the knee is unprotected once the insert is out.

What is not included

Base layers, fleece and outer garments are separate elements of the layering system. Pouches, plate carriers and other load-bearing equipment are not included either: UATAC makes clothing and gear, while body armour and footwear are separate engineering fields we deliberately stay out of.

Checklist on arrival

  1. Check that everything is there: trousers, knee pads, belt, dry bag.
  2. Insert the pads and check their position with the leg bent.
  3. Confirm the belt adjusts around your gear.
  4. Test zippers and hook-and-loop closures before the first use.
  5. Keep the care label.

Frequently asked questions

What comes with UATAC assault pants?

Trousers, knee pads, a belt and a dry bag. The combat shirt ships with EVA elbow pads and a dry bag.

Is the knee protected without the insert?

Against abrasion yes, thanks to the CORDURA® 500d reinforcement on the garment. The EVA insert is what absorbs impact.

Why are the supplied pads better than universal ones?

They are held by a three-point system — height adjustment, hook-and-loop and an anti-slip hook — so they stay on the kneecap during movement.

Are a base layer or fleece included?

No. Those are separate elements of the layering system, chosen for the season and the mode of work.

What is the dry bag for?

For dry storage and transport of the set. A dry change of clothing in the field is critical.
